I need to replace my fan because one of the fan blades is cracking and ready to let go! I loosened the four bolts holding it on and the bolts pull out but they are touching the radiator, do I need to pull the radiator? I am not really wanting to do this, If I tap on the fan and the extender, will it come out enough to get the fan off, also I am thinking of using a flex type of fan to let it run cooler than the stock fan any suggestions? anyway thank's for any advise, this is for a stock 302 on a 75 Grabber, and is running about 190, it had a 190 degree and I put in a 180, radiator is recored and all new hoses, and I would like to have it run a little cooler. thank's Marty.

unthread all 4 bolts & tap the spacer with a plastic hammer. the whole thing should all be able to come out. just be careful of the radiator. put a sheet of cardboard in there if you want to keep from damaging fins & tubes.

I have basicly the same setup, i had to take out the rad to put on a new fan, but I did that when I got the rad recored. I went with a 4 row rad, and it cools just fine now :). I also went with a flex fan as well.

as far as the "flex fan", i am not crazy about them. i think the stock fan is a better choice...J.M.O...frank...:bouncy:

The stock fan is better, and it actually is a "flex-fan". Aftermarket flex-fans do not cool as well as the stock fan in most cases...

My car has an aftermarket flexfan already but knowing it gets hot here in memphis I put an electric 14" fan in front of radiator to push air into it. My car runs cool now. Some would call this overkill, but my motor thanks me everyday...:2cents: (y)
