May I have your attention please! As many of us know, JOEXR793 has been valiantly trying to get hard to find Maverick and Comet parts made for our cars at an affordable price. This is something that we have been waiting and wishing for for a long, long time. I know how excited we all were when Joe proposed the idea of having these parts made. Clearly there is a very real interest in getting these parts reproduced. Well, the making of these parts may be in danger. Joe has asked us many times to list what parts they would like to see made and what parts they need the most, and a good many of you have done so. He had also asked us to send that list of parts to Tony at RPS so he knows what we all want. That, my friends, is proving to be a huge obstacle in getting these parts made. It seems hardly anyone has been sending thier parts list to Tony at RPS at all, and that lack of responce is putting the brakes on the making of parts. I have been informed that the tooling of parts for our cars has been ordered to be slowed down until further notice. This is not scare tactic, this is a fact. This presents a serious problem for us who really want these parts made. Not only will the parts not be there when we need them, but many over run parts could end up going to AutoKrafters, and they will jack up the cost of the parts by up to 40%. The worst case scenario is that production of many of the parts we need and want will be stopped outright. If you are serious about wanting excellent quaility and affordable parts made for our Mavericks and Comets, you MUST send your parts list to Tony at RPS. It's so simple to do, guys. Just type down your parts list and email it to Tony at restorationpartssource.com. How hard can that be? This may be one of the only opportunitys we Maverick and Comet owners may get to have many obsolete parts reproduced just for us. If we don't send our parts list to RPS, that opportunity may pass us by. Should that happen, we will only have ourselves to blame. Don't let that happen folks! PLEASE send your parts list to Tony at:

My opinion is, while many people know they will need the parts mentioned, they are not ready to commit to buying them RIGHT NOW. For me, I know exactly what I will need (such as bumpers and stuff), but in reality it could be a year or more before I am ready to buy those parts because I am currently busy with, and directing money at other aspects of the project. In a perfect world, I could buy everything I need right now and put it away until I am ready to install it, but that simply isn't possible, at least for me..

As much as I think it's awesome that Joe is doing all this work and getting all these parts made, I think you have to look at reality for a second, most of the people on this site drive their Mavericks and Comets as regular everyday cars, very few of the people here look at their cars as classic cars, and as we've always found with Mavericks and Comets most people that are working on them are restricted by their budgets, and no one is ready to commit to anything they don't need at the moment or without knowing the price.
I would love to have all these parts for my cars, but at the moment I don't need anything that I haven't already collected. Just my 2 cents.

If Auto Krafters only sold Maverick parts they would go broke, As for the Maverick Connection, I'm sure it's not the only thing Chuck does.

So all they want is an email with a list of parts with no commitment to buy? I'd commit to buy one of everything he made but I have a feeling each part is going to cost way more than a similar Mustang Part, NOS part or nice used part. Isn't he charging like $80 for a battery tray and bracket? The battery tray is already available from AK for $15 ... so he is charging $65 for a small sheet metal bracket? It makes me cringe to think how much the fender apron is going to cost .... hate to be a pessimist but I am being realistic ...

Also ... his original post said to contact him OR RPS .... for parts requests.

Thanks Dan. I have really refrained from raining on everyone's parade, but let's look at just one of the other parts Joe recently proposed: dash pads. Joe said he had to commit to 200 pads initially. He said retail price would be $195 to $225. Let's say retail turns out to be the $195. That means wholesale cost to RPS would be roughly $130 each. Committing to 200 pads up front means an up-front investment of $26,000. That means RPS would have to sell 133 pads at $195 each in order to just recoup their initial investment. 133 pads before making one cent of profit. I would estimate RPS could expect to sell one to two pads per month, so that means it would take between five and ten years to sell 133 pads - so five to ten years just to break even... That's the kind of uphill battle anyone trying to have Maverick and Comet parts reproduced will face.

Whatever Joe IS able to get done will be a GREAT accomplishment and I wish him well, but I agree with Dan, everyone needs to have realistic expectations.

Unfortunately true, and that seems to be the consensus of the other people I have talked to about this. Who knows, we'll see what happens.

I strongly agree with Dan and Chuck. while the idea of repro parts for Mavericks is a great idea, it's gonna be hard for a company to just all of a sudden make 200 of a certain part and try to make profit from it in a short amount of time. i have noticed that almost every time a part is mentioned to be reproduced, we never know the price untill after it is already being manufactured. i understand that no-one can give an exact prediction on pricing as manufacturing costs can vary, even day by day, but you also cant get people's hopes up then drop an $80 bomb for a battery tray or such.

i look forward to seeing alot more parts being reproduced but i feel that the company doing it might fall short of making alot of parts when they see they cant make their money back and some profit in a few months or so.....just my thoughts

how much was the ...frame rail cover...he sold
if we don't have to...commit..then why don't we all ask for all the parts that have been discussed..
someone make a list and we all can link to it and send the same list to them...:Handshake ...cost is a factor...

Retail on the frame rail is $145.95. Did anyone actually buy one other than PASC?

ive already hunted down pretty much every part i need thats not reproduced already. but i'd be happy to send an email myself backing up the rest of you guys that could use something.

i'd like to get some bucket seat tracks for a CAT car so i guess i could send a request for that but with out a ball park estimate on the price of these parts i really cant commit to buying anything
