Just thought I would let everbody know, that even with us not racing and the Sat. event tried to run on Sunday, the NO/E was won by a Maverick. Being a combo race, the winner of the Super/Pro( a 133mph dragster) ran the Maverick for the overall win.

The dragster prevailed when the Mav had a -.005 light. Still was a good showing for a 351W. Kind of wish we had gone back Sunday, just to watch. Will try to post a picture of both car's when available.

Personally i think the combo type races put the no/e guy at a disadvantage. However when we were running something like that iI had a hard time convincing anyone since no/e cars had won something like 4 out of the 5 races we had.:)

I totally agree, Don. When the Super's can still run all the electronic's and Pro's are still foot braking it, seem's a bit one sided. But it is the smell of big money payout's that keep's the thing going, everytime. Anything is possable in bracket racing but just not my cup of tea to beat on the car and use lot's of fuel to try and match up with a multi electronic equipped slingshot etc, in the final rd. Like anything else, if you want to play, you got to pay. That's all I have to say about that, don't you know.

The combo races like that pretty much force you to put the box in and run it with the super pro guys just to be somewhat competitive. Most of us footbrakers are lucky to have .0-teen lights where in the "E" classes a teen light will get you on the trailer pretty quickly--at least around here anyway.

Agreed..you might get by a few times with teen lights but if your gonna win consistently you better be cuttin double 00's...the only times I've ever beat a slingshot was with a better light cuz there too damn consistent. The guy in the Mav knew this hence the - .005 light.
I know first hand how disconcerting it can be to a footbraker to be coming up on the converter while the box car hits the button and floors it...essentially nullifying your sense of hearing....
Wait...Wait...I shoulda said Don knows first hand how disconcerting it is..:thumbs2:

Actually I don't mind it. Usually I get so much of a head start that the other car has 2-3 seconds before his tree starts coming down...and they're idling when I leave. Other times when it's close, I don't even think about it. Maybe I'm just weird like that but I usually don't even think about it.

I agree though--beating a digger in a door car (especially a slower door car) is a blast!
