I want to get the March performance setup with ac and power steering http://www.marchperf.com/pg74.html . Unfortunately I already bought a high performance regular rotation water pump and aluminum timing cover. :((Im trying to get all the parts before I build the motor) I now know I need a reverse rotation water pump and I guess new timing cover. I did a search but it seems all the engines everybody is working on are newer. Mine is a 1971. Does anybody know if these parts bolt to my engine.

    Thanks

if you get the right cover and pump it'll bolt right up

reverse rotation and standard rotation are your onlu real choices. you need a timing cover drilled for a dip stick though.

if the pulley set you want calls for a reverse water pump your going to need that and the cover to match

Isn't it just the pump that's reverse rotation? I didn't think the timing cover made a difference? I'll have to have a look at the one on my roller block..

i could have sworn the water "ports" in the timing covers were casted a little diffrently. i know the waterpump gasket is slightly diffrent depending on what pump your using

I went with the styletrack setup http://www.marchperf.com/styletrack_ford_sb.html . It has the reverse rotation pump and came with a timing cover. Apparently, there is a specific timing cover needed for the short nose reverse rotation pumps. Otherwise it would not have come with one. I looked it up on Ford Motorsports. Its listed and not cheap.

I suggest calling March and asking. Tell them what you have and which kit you want to use. They will tell you the part numbers you need to make it work. I had to move to an e. fuel pump and oil pan mounted dipstick to make mine work. This specific timing cover does not have dipstick or fuel pump provisions. They will tell you all about it.
