Ok so without spending a small fortune on some roller tipped rockers, what brands are decent both in quality and price? 3/8 stud size is what I have, what brands have ya'll had good lasting results from? :tiphat:

If you're just buying roller tipped rockers, save your money and buy full rollers, the full rollers don;t cost much more than the roller tipped rockers. The tips really don't net you any power, the real friction to be lost is in the fulcrums. If you'll cycle a stock rocker thru a valve event, turning the crank by hand, you will see the rocker tip roll across the valve stem. The rocker tips are not flat, they have a noticeable curve ground into them to allow them to roll across the valve stem.

Exactly !!! These are the same rockers Ford used in the 93 Cobra 5.0's. They last forever too. I've got a set I bought used for $125 ten years ago, they've been in 2-3 different engines since then, and they show no signs of ever giving up.

I was also told I would need locking nuts for them, what are those? sorry to be asking so much but I just don't know much about roller stuff.

Never heard of the locking nuts, and don't think they would work with these.

I have had a couple of the bolts walk out after a while. This last time, I cleaned the threads on the head and the bolt, and used hi-temp red loctite. I doubt I will have any more issues.

But the functionality of the rockers has been AWESOME! It is like adding a larger cam, because you are going from 1.6 to 1.7 ratio.

The only other issue I had was my Edelbrock aluminum valve covers have a baffle inside that the rockers tapped on on one or two rockers. I used a ball-peen hammer to tap in the baffle right above them and no problems since.

Some people call them Poly Locks. You need screw-in studs

Those pictured are the bolt down type that use a 5/16" bolt and require shims to set clearance... If you are using stud type, those can be 3/8" or 7/16" and require poly locks to secure them them in place after clearance is set with the nut... A new set will come with the locks... There are some heads that have non-adj type studs that have a shoulder, I dunno if the aftermarket parts can be used with those or not...

I just bought these for my 331 that going in the T-Bird...

That's a very good price for all that. You may or may not be able to use the pushrods though. The geometry will need to be checked to answer that question. Just make sure you buy the correct size rockers for the studs you have. Studs are either 3/8" or 7/16"

I believe they are C6OE, just got them today and took them straight to the shop, screw in studs 3/8, valve guide plates, milled to 51cc chambers, having springs strength checked (supposed to be good up to .600"+ lift) and cleaned up somewhat, got a little project motor going now so seeing what I can do for it, I'll try and get the cam specs as soon as I can, my current 351w is just not working out for me.

Never EVER bid until the last 30 seconds of an Ebay auction. Sucks for the seller, but this is the ONLY way to get what you want without paying thru the nose for it. If the price goes over what you want to pay, then move on. There WILL be more.
