are still out there world wide. I am gonna say less than 20,000. What do you think and does any body have any factual evidence.
There are 8 here on the Eastern Shore that I know of.. 5 are probably still running.. and the other 3 are in people's back yards... 3 are Grabbers
I know where 5 Mav's and one Comet are between Atlanta and Murphy, North Carolina. One is a 70' and being drivein daily, 2 big bumpered cars are not for sale, a 70' Mav and 73 Comet will be mine soon, the last one is a 73' Mav that I haven't gotten around to stopping and asking about yet. I keep my eyes open for Mavs and Comets everywhere I go. Same goes for 67-72 Ford trucks.
Hey Jamie, are you looking for a 67-72 F100? That's my favorite truck also. Mine's a 71 my dad bought it new. 71's are my faavorite year. I look for Mavericks on the road everywhere I go and just plain don't see many at all. I can't tell you the last one I saw being driven. I keep stopping in the local yard to make sure they don't have any but they never do. A Granada showed up the other day and the front end was gone out from under it the first day. clint
haha thats funny I keep mine open for those and 61-66 Ford trucks (had 2 66's at one time) and I have a 76 F-100 right now, so I keep a look out for them We got more in common than i thought
Yep, I bought my first truck a 71' F250 (my first vehical period) back in 2002. Guy wanted 500, I pulled 300 out of my pocket and he said get it out of his driveway. I'm the 3rd owner of it. http://5hp.hill.cc/Truck Last year my uncle gave me his old 69 F100 Ranger for my birthday, but its way to far gone to fix up so I have been robbing parts from it for a while now. 2 weeks ago I picked up a 68' F100 for 100 bucks, has only 2,000 miles on the rebuilt 300 I6. Also was a 3 speed floor shift. Already put that engine and trans in my truck, have only drove it about a quarter of a mile since though. My friends dad has a 73' F100 with a good running 351W and all the parts to do the ever popular disk brake swap. Trying to get him down to $200 on it, but he seems to be holding at $300. I would love to find a shortbed frame to swap my cab and front clip over to. Sorry for getting off topic.
Sounds good. I had 2... both 66 F-100 custom cabs. sold one to buddy. Worse shape than mine. But his had a factory posi in it. One had a 352 FE and the other had a 390 FE. I put a crane cam in my 390, headers, 4 barrel manifold, 750 carb, stock dish pistons, etc. C6, 3.70 minispool rearend and it'd fly. It has disk brakes, power steering and brakes. Love the truck
Jamie, you have a good start on a nice truck going there. Love to have that dash pad out of the parts truck. On the 73 you're looking at, make sure if it's a 351w that someone added it in as they did'nt come stock. Andy, nice Slick. Bet it will haul. Those 390's have some grunt to them. A friend of mine has a 74 with a 390 in it and we lined up at the track one day. I beat him 3 times. lol He sure was mad. My gears were the reason though as I am running a 351w with 3.70's, He has a 390 but was running 3.25's. Love these old Ford trucks. Mine has a 351w, Stealth intake, headers, Comp extreme 4x4 cam, 600 Holley, automatic overdrive,, PS, power disc brakes. Dad bought it new with a 302, 3 speed, manaul steering and brakes. If ya'll need any help or parts for these old trucks I'm in a Ford truck club here in NC and the members are very helpful and friendly. plus everybody has parts stashed away. lol clint
a lot of the junkyards that i have called looking for them say the same thing...not to many around and not any money in maverick so i crush them when i can... i asked one guy to call me if he got one in that looked good and he laughed..... he said he doesnt have the time for that...i said, " you dont have time to make money?" oh well....
I mustared a 12.50 out of it. I still thought it was slow. Never ran quite right. Finally brought it home, and the advance spring in the dizzy had been broke and it would flop around like 180 degree's of timing. haha. Not bad tho considering I had to retard the timing, start it, adjust it back up, tighten it down, go make a run, and hope it didnt die. It's got a 750 Edelbrock on it now, and will have a performer 390 intake soon, so hopefully I'll see what it does.
