I got my engine installed today, after starting my V8 swap over a year ago (moved in the middle) boy its fun trying to find the exact parts after so long. Anyhow, my question is this; has anyone used a floor shifter out of a MII, if so were exactly do we cut the hole? I have a complete 78 MII V8 car that I can take parts off of. And what about the kickdown lever? Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Rob

I am going to assume you are talking about a C4.
You can measure from the transmission mount forward to the shifter on the transmission in neutral and then make the same measurement on your car to locate the hole for your shifter. To connect the down-shift linkage you can use the standard rod for your 72 if you are using a Ford or Holley carb. If you are using something else then you may have to use the parts for cable down-shift from Lokar.

In my Comet, the previous owner(s) tried this option. They cut the hole but never mounted the shifter, I finished the mounting, fabricated a shifter rod, turned the column shift linkage lever in the transmission, upside-down. The thing never worked correctly. I ended up buying a B&M shifter to replace it with.
