i'm putting the 351w in my 76 mav and i had a welder look at it and he wasn't sure if where the towers need to be moved in was part of the moter mounts or not, they look to be but the frame also connects to the mounts so i'm no to sure. i'm haveing someone who knows a lot more about car welding then this last guy look at it but i would like to know before hand, any help would be great, thanks Stephen M.
You're way off base here. You can trim the tops of the towers only without getting into major work here. Start at the top, angle back slightly under the tower brace, then straight down cutting about an inch to an inch and a half deep to just above the upper control arm bolts (bout 1-1-1/2" above these bolts) allowing for the upwards movement of the control arm. You can try checking out mine in the photobucket link below, I believe I've got a couple pics there that show what I did. (Look on page 8) If this doesn't help, some one else should be able to get better pics to show what to do.
