Okay, so this is gonna sound really un-technical, but I can't figure it out, please bear with me if I don't get the names of things right. I have a single barrel carb on a 170 i6, it hesitates when I accelerate, when I popped the hood, I noticed that there was a cable of sorts (a thin wire) that is connected to the butterfly in the carb....it was bent all up and shoved into a crevice in order to hold it open open at all times. I'm pretty sure this is my problem, so I "un-bent" it but can't figure out where it's actually supposed to connect to....any help out there for a rookie back-yard mechanic?

i figured it should be bent and attatched to something, instead, it was just crammed up and jammed to hold the choke open.
thanks for the link, i can see the peice I'm talking about, the "fast idle cam link" and I can see that it is connected to , surprise, the fast idle cam, looks like i'm missing something to hold it together.
My advice is to pull the carb off and get a Holley 2300 for her. you can get a re-man for about $75 to $100 probably even less on ebay.
