So.. I got my maverick today, just to find out that I need to replace the gas tank and the carb needs a rebuild kit!!

When I told the kid that he lied, he was like "what, I sold you a parts car" hate people like that!!

Now I need to figure out where and how much the carb rebuild is goin to be, and how hard it will be *or is it worth it... The kid told me that the car had not been ran in a year... should I just get a 302 and drop it in?

Well.. thats my rant/questions.. sorry if it bored anyone.. :16suspect lol

    Carb rebuild is not bad.
Gas tank can be done. do a search on it...several folks on here have used certain year mustang tanks.
    I say...302 all the way!!

why do you need to replace the gas tank? carb rebuild is not too expensive or hard to do. get a rebuild kit from napa or auto zone. :)

The tank was patched in 3 other places.. I noticed that one was leaking.. and I dont know how to patch it

I can get a 302 for free, but need to figure out if I need different motor mounts.. I have not done the search yet..

Fuel system repairs are to be expected when buying a 30+ year-old car. If that's the only thing wrong with the car, you got a good deal...

Its a good time to learn to do it yourself. A carb kit is cheap.
