I have a 1987 jeep cherokee with 358,258 miles that I drive daily. The car was bought new by my family. When new, my Dad added Slick-50 to the engine oil. He then changed the oil at regular intervals, adding Slick-50 each 30-40K. I started driving the car with just over 200,000 miles and I change the oil when I think about it, adding Slick-50 high mileage each two to three oil changes. The engine has never been into for any reason. Has anyone out there used slick-50 in a Maverick or a comet with simular results?

When I rebuilt the 302 in my grabber 11 or so years ago I used slick 50 in the breakin oil and have used it every 3 or 4 oil changes. I don't think your supposed to use it during break in but I did. Motor runs great even today! I use it in all my cars now.

I don't use the actual Slick 50 brand.
It is 30w oil with a quarter of a quart of teflon in it.
I just buy the quarter quart of teflon and add it to my oil instead of paying for the 3/4 quart of 30w.

I have used several brands of teflon. They seem to come and go.
I started with TX7, but now (15 years later) it is called Greased Lightning.
The little bottle of pure PTFE is just under 5 bux.

    I use it in everything.
Most additives are honestly snake oil. However the PTFE (Teflon) is the real deal.
I just had the injector harness go out on one of my Powerstrokes with 220k miles. The diesel shop said it was the cleanest diesel internally that they had ever seen. Usually diesel oil is black all the time, even after you just change it. My oil was clear and clean like fresh oil, they said if they hadn't seen me drive it in, they wouldn't have believed the engine had been run since oil was put in.
My engines all stay perfect inside ever since I have used teflon in them.
You just can't allow yourself to go overboard with it.
Too much at one time in your oil can cause overheating.
I also use it in manual trannys and rear ends. Supposed to be good for power steering as well.

I just found it at Parts America for 2.95 a bottle.
Don't get the full 1 quart bottle. It is just like Slick 50 in that you get mostly cheap 30w oil. The little bottle of pure DuPont PTFE is the same amount of teflon that you get in the big bottle that costs a great deal more.

    greased lightning

About 10 years ago I poured a quart of greased lightning in an 88 T-Bird v-6 that had a botom end knock. It stoped knocking. I ended up giving the car to a friend of mines sister to drive while in school. She loved the car.I would ad a quart to each oil change, and recomended she do the same. Slick-50 has been around for alot longer than most other products.
