When sitting at a dead stop and accelerating, I get a slight hesitation before it goes, almost like it wants to stall, but then it takes off.

I have had it for a while; I have gapped new plugs, installed new points, condenser with proper gap.

I tried to adjust the carburetor, but that didn't seem to do anything (but I’m not 100% sure what to tweak there, I might have to take it in to have it looked at).

Doesn’t run rough when cruising, seems to idle ok.

I’m thinking vacuum advance, but I want to get some input on others thoughts.

    Thanks in advance,
    Glen

Sounds like Accelerator pump is weak or out of adjustment.

I agree. You can probably buy a carb kit fairly cheap and just change out the pump in it and fix the problem.

Check to make sure your timing is right, the points are set correctly, and the throttle setting allows the transition slot is being used properly (throttle not open too far).
If all that is ok then it is time to look at the accelerator pump. Look to see that when you move the throttle the accelerator pump moves at the same time. Make sure that the pump is returning to the top of its stroke when the carb is returned to idle.

If you take the time to check and adjust everything correctly you may not have to rebuild the carb. If it all checks out or after you make the adjustments it is still suffering a "bog" on take-off then it may be necessary to rebuild the carb and replacing the accelerator pump and adjusting it with the rebuild.

My I-200 does the same thing, and I had a carb kit installed! It's frustrating, sometimes you wonder if it's going to stall...

I'll throw in my .02 and agree with the others.

    It is the accel pump...

I don't want to sound like a smarta$$, but just putting a kit in a carb doesn't automatically tune the accel pump.
