Ok, no promises here, but this is the deal.

As I mentioned in the post about the Maverick Connection valve covers, I became acquainted with Jim Dingle of PPI in Virginia, a top Mustang parts source. He has contracted the making of some repop parts so he knows intimately what is involved. He passed on several possible manufacturers that might make some Maverick parts if it is feasible along with being able to use PPI as a personal reference. There are several variables that would determine what parts could be repoped. The biggest will be demand. What I need to know here is what parts would be on your 'repop wish list'.

Now, guys and gals, PLEASE be realistic. There is the possibility that anything may be a bit pricey, and that doesn't mean that I'd be making big bucks on them. I want to be clear on that point. More importantly, there has to be the demand, meaning how many units of a particular item will sell. If only a dozen people commit to buying a first run of something, nobody could sell that to a manufacturer. I do not have the capitol on hand to commission a large first run on my own so it would basically be a group effort for those that have the need.

If there are enough of you that are willing to walk the walk, I am willing to pursue this further. It can be for more than one type of part. I was thinking about the small bumpers, myself, as there seemed to be a significant demand and I do know there is no supply. Front fenders is another possibility.

In another words, I'm willing to go on point for this endeavor, but not myself. Think very hard about this and look at your bank accounts for what you can realistically afford to buy for your cars and go from there. Since the holidays are looming on the horizon (not again??!! ), this can wait until early in '05, but I need a direction to go.

Here are a few ideas: Of course fenders & small bumpers as you mentioned, how about front & rear valance panels? How about small parts like the hood lip molding and side window boomerang pieces?

Good ones, MM & Grabber. What I also need very importantly is exactly what parts would anyone be willing to purchase in advance of production and how many, given I would be able to negotiate a reasonable price per unit. This info is crucial. Nobodys money would be at risk. All parts ordered for production would be under contract to the manufacturer. JD gave me reputable companies to deal with.

Wes ... I'm working on something similar for a Mustang part I happen to have NOS. It is a big dollar item on the NOS market and not available reproduction. Just for reference .. this part will cost $10 per piece to produce .... It will cost me $5000 to get to the point of producing it ..... but if all goes well I should make a tidy profit on my first run ...

I know it has been mentioned already, but I'd like to see- small bumpers, valences, chrome trim, quarter extensions, (not sure if these are out there or not). I'm sure there is more, but these came to mind first. I have been thinking of trying to manufacture such parts as frame mounts, and tranny crossmembers myself. No time right now, but perhaps around Christmas. Thanks Wes!! Preston

    ALL FOR A 1971 GRABBER:
Dash pad-- one each, black at $100 to $125.
Sun visors-- one each left and right in red (OR make them all in a neutral color that is easily dyed) at $20 to $40 each.
Arm rests-- same as the visors but $30 to $50 each.
Valences-- one each front and rear (THAT FIT WELL!) at $50 to $100 each.

Good old sheetmetal would be great, high quality 1/4 patches, rocker patches, etc.

From a restoration shop's side of things, floorpans and trunk pans would be greatly needed. The outter wheel houses ( inside the rear quarters) are another big rot- out area that no one reproduces. I can't forget the torque box'es either. I have rarely seen a Maverick that didn't need any or all of these parts. I realize that these parts might be a bit pricey, but I believe it would be cheaper in the long run if these parts were to be reproduced so shops like ours would not have to make them ourselves.
