I read an article in a magazine the other day by a spark plug man. It stated that for every 75 to 100 hp. you add to an engine you should drop one heat range cooler of a plug. Is this right? I never heard that before. If so what is the theory behind this and what advantage? Joe H.

It seems a bit excessive but it is close. The more HP you have the more heat is generated in your combustion chamber. The more heat that gets generated the colder the plug must be.
