Hey guys. I have a 76 with a 250 in it. First off, what should the spark plug gap be set at? Also, my car has been fouling plugs pretty frequently so my dad thinks I should put in double or triple- electrode spark plugs, is that a good idea? If so, what brand?

Don't waste your money on those multiple electrode plugs, all you'll do is spend that much more to replace them when they get fouled too. Fix the problem causing the fouled plugs first. What's fouling them ? Fuel (running rich) or oil ?

Oil is fouling them, were pretty sure it needs new piston rings. I just had my carb dialed in so its not running rich anymore

Agree with the others a big $$$ plug is just wasting money...

If it's oil fouling the only thing that may help is running the hottest heat range avail... Also sometimes playing with plug gap will help, if you are running something in the range of .050-.060 close it to around .045...

What are you using now??? Does this engine take 18mm plugs??? If so you should be using a Autolite 46 spark plug...

    Fouling Plugs

There is a product available at your local Advance Discount Auto Store called a "Non-Fouler" .. Its a threaded metal extension that is threaded with male and female threads and screws into your spark plug hole . Remove the spark plug .. clean it or replace it , then screw your spark plug into the non-fouler. Then your spark plug screws into " IT " .. I've used them before on some beaters I've had and they work .. the part number is 42002 and the price is $4.59 each.
This might help until you're ready for some more serious repairs.

Could also be the valve seals as well. That can be fixed fairly cheaply, although it'll take a good afternoon's work to do. Get an air compressor, weld an air chuck to the bottom half of a spark plug, get a spring compressor. Then pull the valve cover and one cylinder at a time pull the springs and replace the seals on the valve stems
