This may sound stupid, or maybe it is just that I am too lazy to go down to the local car audio store, but what size speaker does my stock 71 maverick come with?

    thanks, Phil

Two 6x9 in the rear deck, two 4" round in the lower front kickpanels. If it was AM only, there's one speaker in the middle of top of the dash.

My front panels (behind the kickpanels) held 6 1/2" speakers, and as stated, the back dash is for 6x9's. Hope this helped. Preston

I think fan2488 is probably correct about the dash speaker being about a 5X7. It's definitely smaller than the 6X9's. I just took a door speaker out of a late model Mustang that fit very well...only had to drill a couple more holes and it sounds much better than the cheapo speaker that came with it.

Darn, I have an extra 3 1/2'' hanging around my house, so I was kinda wishing that would have been it. but a 5x7 sounds good too.

You can go to a Mustang resto house, and they have the dual 3 1/2" speaker module for the am radio. I made mine, but it cost more than the pre-made one. Fits right in.
