i will most likely get a 750 to replace the 600 but if i run low 11s i would happy but 10s are my goal.
I know your hoping for the most and its great to want to build for 10's but realistically that setup is no where close to even 11's, its going to be lucky to hit low 12's. Your cam is very close to a stock 85-90 302 camshaft, actually probably smaller because flat tappet ramp speeds are slower than compared to hyd roller cams. Stock ford heads suck on 302's ported or not, now your trying to push 347 through them. With the stock ported heads, a non-roller cam at 262* and only .493 lift your looking at around 340-350hp. Which seems right because I have seen a few 347 crate motors around 360-380hp with much better heads and cams. With that being said your motor setup should be a torque killer from 2000-3500rpm which makes it the perfect street machine.
I am not sure what heads you have but if they are factory and you want 10's be ready for a 175 shot at minimum. There are a good bit of 5.0 shortblocks with hydrolic roller cams, aluminum heads and 150-200 shots running 10's.
The heads arent stock i am trying to think what they are i had them when i bought the car. And ha turbo is something i want to do it would only cost me 1600 if this shop does it. Should i convert to a roller then the motor is torn apart so it would be easy to do also what cam should i go with? Thank you for all the inputs and somes 2 cent
okay change of plans i am trading i guy on craigslist my 2 302 blocks for his xxx302 roller. i am ordering a cam this week for it either comp's 35-602-8 or comp's31-452-8 the first one has a .552 valve lift and the other one has a .544 lift. as far as the bottom end i ordered this one already from SCA-1-45355BE summit. here are the heads i have now WRL-053040-2 they were already on the car when i bought them. my intake is an edelbrock air gap performer rpm. i already have a set of long tube headman headers. like i said previously i am going to swap the 600 for a 750cfm carb i just dont know which one yet
he should have gave you four rollers for your two vintage blocks out here the vintage ones are more sought after. But converting one to roller requires $350 specific lifters. So you did good. Just make sure to match the springs to the cam. And clay it to see if your PTV clearances are okay. Should be fun.
Heres a how to article. Oh and instead of clay use a tootsie roll, it wont stick to the piston. Plus you can eat it when your done http://www.fordmuscle.com/fundamentals/pistontovalve
