Hey everyone! I have a 4 door 74 Mav and I love it. After getting off the freeway I was pulling into my garage when my steering seemed to go out. The wheel spins around and I can feel it "grab" to torque the wheels enough to move it slightly one way or the other, but the ability to steer is basically gone. I'm not very schooled on suspensions, but a friend told me it could be the steering gear box or the rag joint. Any advice? I was going to get it towed to a shop to have it looked at. Thanks for any help!
do you have manual or power steering for starters????? if you have manual it might be time to adjust the steering box preload i just did that and helped all the play in the steering wheel but i have a completely new front end all the bushings and idler arm. but id start with the idler arm and the adjustment on the steering box
ditto what frank said!!!!! check the rag joint FIRST and the conection steering shaft to rag joint and rag joint to steering box
