ok last night i was talkin with this kid who actually belived that ford never made a 302 and that only v6's could be boared to a 302. and he also belived that his little 3.8 mustang could beat my 302 powerd maverick.
I`ve also been told in no uncertian terms that "Theres No way a 302 could ever out run a 350 `cause the 350 is bigger!"
Kids nowadays are idiots. Their idea of a hot-rod is a lowered japanese 4-cylinder P.O.S. with a big rear wing and a 4-inch exhaust tip...
I resent that comment!! lol Im a kid and i love my maverick with all 33 american made years of it! -Todd
It amazes me at how some young guys think they know something....................but I would rather they were interested in big wings and 4 inch tips than drugs or other BS. I try my best to educate most of those guys by showing them my tail lights.....
Imports Suck! I've have to agree with T.L. sorry to all the young drivers on this site but most kids today know more about the imports, and how to make them mostly louder then fast. Now I’m not saying that there isn’t any fast imports… what I am saying is there are a LOT of noisier ones. Now with that said, It’s their time! We older members all remember growing up with the muscle car being the only cars to go fast. Kids today spend even more money then we had to! With today’s technology these cars run as fast as the muscle cars did and some even faster. Now before you start blasting me about the Imports, believe me went I say I ware my Imports Suck shirt with pride, I just call it like I see it. I have street tags for my Maverick and from time to time I put my exhaust and street tires on and I’ve even smoked what was rumored to be the fastest Honda in my area, (boy was he pissed) I guess he didn’t have enough spray (lol). To close this post it’s their time, and I’m glad these kids are into cars and not drugs! The next time you see a young person in an import remember at one time it was your day. THE KIDS ARE COMING just look in the jegs & summit they call it sport compact looks like its here to stay
Some of the kids today have more money than brains. My neighbor purchased a new WRX Subaru ($25,000) and then added $8,000 worth of turbo/intercooler and big exhaust to pull 13.00 1/4 mile....he is trying to sell his car he is having a hard time getting $20,000 for the car. its a 2002. Also I was at some Import drag thing (why I dont know) but every fast import had a sponsor. I talked to a few of the guys, there motors cost $50,000 and they change motors like I change oil! The sponsorship was amazing these companies must be making a fortune off these import racers. A fool and there money are soon parted.
There's a local guy with a Miata I like, has a 5.0 & a T5. It was in either Hot Rod or Car Craft a couple months ago.
No matter how you look at it, gasoline burns much better than rice! None of those cars are of any IMPORT to me anyway!! :bananaman
Some good points have been brought up here. The fact of ths matter is; any car (and I mean ANY car) can be made to go fast if enough $$$ is spent on it. Big deal. Does that automatically mean it's a cool car? No. These cars will never be classics. Twenty-five years from now, no one is going to be interested in a 25 year-old "classic" Honda Civic. Look at what these old Mavericks are going for on eBay. Some are selling for the original as-new price and some more than that. Look at what you have to pay for a classic American muscle car these days. You think anyone's gonna give a krap about an old worn-out rice machine years from now? Classic American cars have longevity, not just speed. Even the slow ones have the attractiveness and longevity. Imports are here today, gone tomorrow. Now I wouldn't mind driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse to work everyday, but I certainly wouldn't waste my time & money "tricking it out". I'd just drive it and enjoy it for what it is.
