As was posted a couple of times earlier the famous 'Mad Frenchman' Maverick drag car powered by a 300 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder was for sale. My friend bought the car last week and the car was delivered to him this evening. He also got the extra 300 Magnum blue motor and MANY extra engine and driveline parts. The awesome part is he said he wants me to drive the car when he takes it to the drag strip since I have a fair amount of experience running cars at the track. I'm very excited!! The car sounds awesome!! It has Kooks big tube long tubes that have dual exits. The motor has 14 to 1 compression ratio and Weber carbs. It has a C4 trans with a trans brake and a 9 inch rear with 5.13 gears. He are some pictures that I took as it was in the trailer and after it was unloaded and put into the garage. He also recently bought a really nice restored '72 Sprint. It also shares the garage with the Sprint, my uncle's '71 Grabber, '71 Comet GT and 5 Mustangs. Here are a few of pics of the '72 Sprint.
Very cool what a hoot it will be to drive down the strip, not the fastest Maverick but done with some class. I have had the pleasure to see one like it with a 300 six at Mission Raceway and it kept the front tires in the air for a long ways and ran low 10s
I bet it sounds nasty with all that compression, nothing like the crisp cackling of a gas engine with diesel compression ratios!
Wow. That car has found a good home! A piece of memorabilia that will still perform.....I call that a win win. Thanks for posting all those pics BTW. Eye candy for sure.
