The pin for the modulator can be made fron a 16d nail. Use a plain finish nail (no coatings or platings) cut it a bit longer than 1.65" (1 5/8") long and round the ends and smooth them to get an overall length of between 1.6325 and 1.6375 inches. You might find a dealership that has a modulator service kit that has a selection of pins, a modulator and the seal but in a few minutes you can make one. If you don't have a micrometer or a dial caliper then go to Harbor freight tools or a similar place and buy a dial caliper or 0-1 inch micrometer for less than $20. Stop by the hardware store and get a few 16d (sixteen penny) nails. Round the shap point with a file, cut the nail just a little long and file it to the right length. Then chuck it in a drill and file the ends round. When you are happy with the roughed out shape then use some sand paper and smooth it out a bit - this does nothing but make it look pretty. You have the pin. Install it and drive away.

Any c4 modulater shaft should work, my use of 1/8th drill rod to make them, as Paul said, work's great and you can get a whole bunch out of a 2ft stick of it, available at most industrial supply store or machine tool and die supplier.
