I have owned several Mavericks over the years ... have also seen a fair share in junk yards. I know Auto Krafters sells 3 types of trunk mats, Speckle Vinyl, Plaid Vinyl and Grey Felt. The thing is ... I've never seen an original trunk mat in a Maverick. Is AutoKrafters just making these things up? Does anyone have a car with a Factory trunk mat in it? What does it look like? I mean .. even my 74 owned by an old lady since new didn't have a trunk mat in it and I highly doubt she would have taken it out ... She had every paper that came with it ... including that starting instruction sleeve that went on the sun visor!

Only ones I've ever seen are the ugly black and white plaid ones. To me, they'd make a good dog mat!

My Stallion came with a felt trunk mat. The grabber still has its original mat in it, I have yet to take a real good look at it but it is in pretty good shape.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
yep all 3 of my cars had them.. they were just speckled vinyl (grey)..

and i would presume that the model didn't make a differance cuz one was the base model and the other two were LDO's

all the junkyard ones i have seen were also speckled vinyl or just black because they were so dirty.

i think the plaid ones are just made up if you ask me... i think they jsut make them cuz mustangs came that way... then again i could be wrong cuz i thought i saw a maverick ad showing the trunk and it was plad.

    who knows

My 73 Comet has a plaid one and I know it is the original. I am the second owner and the guy who had it before me was a stickler on this car.

I have seen Mavericks with either the speclked vinyl or the grey cloth like stuff. No rhyme or reason as to which one was used....whether it was year, model, etc.....I have seen both all across the board.

My 1974 has the grey cloth.

I just bought a plaid vinyl for my 1974 - eBay for $42. When I painted my rear panel black the other day I cleaned the trunk and completey coated it with 2 cans of spray on truck bed liner ...

I wonder if the trunk mat was a dealer installed option?

My 73 4dr LDO has a gray one, And my sons 73 2dr had a plaid one when we got it but it was falling apart so we threw it away, And I cut one out of black carpet.

My 70 Maverick still has the original trunk mat as well and it is plaid vinyl. By the way, my car was built on July 3, 1969. So from this I can say the early cars had mats like mine.

I ordered one for my 69.5, and it was just a little square of thick, speckeled vinyl, that fit on the tank top. Definitely not worth the money. I am making my own, and I will put up pics when I am done.

My 70 had the speckled vinyl and it was factory installed, the reason I know it was factory installed, I went to pull it out thinking it was just laying in there, it tore because they (factory) had laid it in the trunk before the speckled paint had dried and it stuck to it.

My 69.5 has the little square grey speckled mat just over the tank also, and it's original. The 70 parts car I had sported the full plaid mat in the trunk. The 72 had red shag carpet. :bouncy:
