Today I dropping my 1972 Grabber (Spooky) off at Unisteer in Twinsburg, Ohio. Unisteer is using my car as the prototype to design and build a bolt-in rack and pinion setup made for the Maverick and Comet that will fit with long tube headers and use the factory steering column with no modifications. It should take two to three weeks to get my car back, I will let everyone know how it works. :thumbs2:

Congrats and good luck. Glad to see another company step up to help the Maverick community. In the street rod world Unisteer is known for having very poor turning radius. I will be curious to hear your feelings after you drive it.

It won't be the same rack, as they use in their Street Rod kit, it'll be based on the Cavlier rack, or that what he was saying, at Carlisle.

I cannot wait until I can gather the funds together to do my rack in pinion setup with coil overs from Rod & Customs. However their cross members/parts are extremely expensive compared to other companies.

Why should I go through them, and not someone else?

Eager to hear how this all turns out. It may be the best solution for my Comet as it sits now.

Unisteer is a rack & pinion conversion, for the steering only and still retains the shock towers.

Maybe compared to companies who build Maverick stuff (only the Welder series comes to mind), but in the overall scheme of things their stuff is less than half what DSE, Heidt's, Morrison, etc will charge for a comparable clip.

    Nick,
Are you planning to go with the Unisteer power rack or the manual rack?

Any chance you can see if Unisteer would offer us an initial product group buy, assuming you like the results?

    Thanks
