Has any one tried using a universal fan shroud, such as Exhibit A and B. And if you are running one, what size for width? 3incher or 5? I noticed how it doesn't have a bottom to it, but is that something to make or break it? Is this just a shroud for race cars? I'm thinking about giving it a shot. Just wanted some input before I order. Thanks guys

i have used B. WASTE OF MONEY!!! doesn't do anything for the cooling. it is mainly to keep your fingers from slipping into the top of the fan.

If it does not go all the way around the fan, it is going to do little good as far as cooling goes. It should not be too much larger in diameter either, and if it does no pull air through the whole core, it isn't going to benefit you. Finger safety only.

Never really thought about it but it may be possible to get two of them and use as upper/lower halves. Should be easy to fasten together in the middle.

Yeah I've been looking at those to use with an electric fan. I even have a couple of them in my cart that I was looking at. I had sketched one out in my notebook a while back and was thinking of making, but they aren't really all that expensive, so I probably will just buy one.

Yeah, wouldn't be hard to make something with some aluminum flat sheet and "L" angle from Tractor Supply or some place like that.

buying two and using them as top and bottom sounds like a good idea actually. I'm looking for something to cool my 351w, but not buy a really expensive plastic one. Now that piece that wraps around the fan....if they had it in a 17dia, like my fan, then I could use that. I do have a flex a lite fan, that's why I am going this route. I just don't wanna go one way and have it overheat all the time, I do live in Florida after all.....:16suspect

Edit: Does the universal shroud go to about halfway down? cause then it would be easy to but up the other piece and get a sheet of alum. and put it around that and that would be very good. Or just get something like this http://store.summitracing.com/partd...part=HRE-34306&N=700+-125622+115&autoview=sku

But would that be too much of a gap between that and the actually fan blade? 1 or 2 inches, depending on Fan size?

I got a shroud from NPD for a mustang i think it was for a 69/70 302 . I took the rad. to them and fitted the shroud to the rad .
