My varishock arrived today, it's listed on the cachassisworks.com website. I got it for $617 which includes shipping. These are double adjustable shocks which are rebuildable, so they will last me for as long as I own the car.

The install should be pretty straightforward but I have some other trouble with the car that I need to address.

this took us less than 30 minutes to install. bryant got the old monroe shocks out and then we used the same mounting bolts to install the new shocks. the new shocks come with a bunch of parts for installation. there is polyurethane bushings that came with the kit.

The bracket (you can see on top part of the pic) is pretty flimsy really. It feels like it could break the metal if I set it too stiff.

    Pretty easy, went right up.

The shocks are double adjustable, I set it on all the way stiff and it seemed too much. I brought it down 2 notches and on the freeway at higher speeds it's still a little too stiff.

This may be a Dumb question but, Isn't the shock mounted upside down? I have never saw a adjustable shock that would work that way. I have read on the verishock web site and cant find the answer. I do see where it says the threaded stem is the top and the eye is the bottom.

That shock is mounted correct. In performance you always want the weight of the shock on the body of the car not on the moving parts of the suspension. If he mounted it the other way then your taking weight away from the body of the car and adding it the suspension weight

I wouuldn't think those would work correctly upside down either..... There is always a small amout of air in the oil, with the valving at the top it seems the air could get in there and cause improper function.....

    Nice shocks though.....

They'll be a bitch to adjust....but very cool!!
If they are too stiff, they will be no different than air shocks, and will rip the mounts out.

the instructions said that they were gas charged so they could be installed in any postion. it was recomended that they be installed the other direction just so its easyer to get to the adjustment knobs.

sure highlight only part of the sentce. that doesnt help. the shocks were sold to mo to be installed in the stock location. they had the eyelet on the body and the stud on the shaft. the body being up is the only way to mount them with the stock bracketry.

The shocks are meant for the maverick and are direct replacement. The performance does not appear to be limited the way we have mounted it. So far I have had it in a few different settings and it is very responsive. I will keep the board updated if anything changes. I have an email out to varishock as well to make sure there is no problem with this.
