Today I picked up a mostly complete Vortech v1 s-trim high output kit for 87-93 injected 5.0's for wicked cheap and want to use what I need to run a blow thru carb setup like Moshori is doing. I don't have any specific questions, just looking for any tips or words of advise and maybe some of the little parts that the kit doesn't have. The kit is setup for 10-12 psi with the 8 rib pulleys.Thanks.
i would PM him if i were you..he's extremely nice and probably would help you out a ton with any one question you may have about it..since he has it on his set-up good luck with the install.
mo and i have been planning on installing the supercharger for a while now. he wanted to do it with a blowthru carb set up. i recommended going efi. we did allot of research on both and the one thing that was the same was the fuel system. both require a big fuel pump with a boost sensitive regulator and a return line. so we have gathered the components for the fuel system. meanwhile mo has been driving the car every day. the carb was really well dialed in during the summer and fall. here in san diego that means a low of 65 degrees and an average high in the high 70s. now that we are into winter and it gets to that incredibly cold temp low 40s. i know thats really cold!!!! his car doenst want to run worth a dam till the air temp warms up some. now that mo has experienced this, he has decided he wants the self adjusting properties of efi. so mo will not have the supercharger on before he converts to efi. now doing a blowthru is pretty easy for power but the driveablilty suffers. there are all kinds of modifications to try to make it decent but by the time you do every thing you will have spent about the same as you would on efi. if your building just a race car the the blowthru is actually supposed to make more power than efi does for the same boost levels.
The car will be 95% track and the 20 mile round trip to the track only. I plan to stay with blow thru. I have the -8 line for the return, I just need to find a good pump and regulator. I will sell off the fmu, polished discharge tubes, fmu and sensors to fund that part of it. Through the barter system I have a blow thru prepped 750 holley and the tuning time with a wide band. I need to find a good bonnet, any recommendations?
no ideas on the bonnet. turbo forums has more then enough opinions on bonnets. it sounds like you have it pretty much figured out. dont forget you need to retard the timing for boost.
