:biglaugh:  Hello, my name is wayne and i need some help. We have a chance to buy an 1970 maverick gabbler for 300.00. We are told that the running gear is in good shape and the body also. We were also told that it is a collectors item. Only 500 of them were ever made. Can someone who know something about these please contact us. Thank u:confused:

You've got either a Shelby Maverick or a Maverick Marauder!

if the body is straight and rust free, that is a steal. if it runs good, all the better. make sure to have a "friend" (mechanic) look at it with you. welcome to the board:Welcome:(y)

They are not rare in the Maverick world although Mavericks in general are not plentiful like most collector cars. If it is indeed in decent shape, $300 is a great price.

$300 bucks, awesome. I think that is a steal. I have a Comet that also only about 500 (actually less) ever made. I havent seen one just like mine yet. I'd get it, especially a grabber. They are fun!:thumbs2:

I'd like to know as well ... since Marti reports aren't available for 1974 cars ... and they made 64,751 2-door Comets and 60,944 4-door Comets that year.
