I'm going to install my trunk weatherstripping today i have 3m weatherstrip adhesive [black] whats the best way to do this ? do i put glue on both trunk lip and weatherstrip How big a bead do i use?
I ran a very very small bead on mine as it likes to "squish out" when you use something to hold it down. I had to use small peices of masking tape to hold min in place while the glue dries.
I used contact cement. One coat on the rubber and one coat on the car. Cleaned it all with laquer thinner first and had no problems. Didn't even have to hold it in place. I followed the directions and let it tack up first, then when you put it in place it stays - no time to move anything.
Only bad thing about that is it better be where you want it when you put it on. The 3M weatherstrip glue will let you reposition it if you happen to get it on wrong the first time, and I usually do!
