I wanted to post a little story about it. If you have been reading any of my posts you know that I am trying desperately to find a Comet GT or 2 door Comet to restore with my dad. The search is next to impossible to find one that fits what I'm wanting (daily driver, etc). Well I broke down today and told my dad my plans figuring that this was supposed to be his fathers day gift anyway. He was excited which just made me more excited. He actually can get his hands on a car trailer and if we find one within driving distance we would be able to go and pick it up. Anyway I got him to scan me the pictures he has of the comet and you will be able to tell that these pictures were taken in the 70's. The quality isn't the best but it's all I have. This Original Comet GT was Blue with the White leather interior and was also a 5 lug. The only alteration to the car was the fog lights he put on the front. The sad part of the story is that after he sold the car it was wrecked shortly thereafter and it was totalled. At least in the small sense we will never have to wonder where it is or what happend to it. Well here are the pics...enjoy. Oh and I want to thank ALL of the members here who have been helping me locate a car. Keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully we can come up with one soon and in my price range. Take care and HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!! :tiphat:

    Soupbone?

Ask your Dad if he put those wheels on the GT. Did he buy it new? Did they come that way?

Show him this picture and ask him if he has ever heard of a 'Bear Cat'.

Yeah he bought it brand new in Pensacola, Fl. where he was stationed in the Navy. The only alteration he made to the car was the fog lights and some side pipes later on. The wheels were original and I did talk to him about a Bear Cat. He doesn't remember if they called it that but he said that he remembers that all dealers in those days could add things to the car to make them look different. i thought the same thing you did when I saw the pictures tonight. I'm guessing it was one and isn't the white leather rare too for those cars? :)

    White interior....

I have never seen leather in these cars. White leather looking vinyl is quite common. White interior was common in '71 and '72 GT's.

Looking at that picture again I think the side pipes may have been stock too. I think he may have removed them which is what you see in the pictures. i'll ask him tomorrow. That would support the Bear Cat theory too. I'll see if he has any pictures with the side pipes.

Since it appears to be a BearCat ... those tires would have been part of the package with the Rims ... I don't think White Letters were available on Mavericks or Comets in 1971.

    If...

...your Dad has more pics, we would love to see them.
If you would like a nice Christmas present for Dad, Kevin
Marti may be able to run down the stats on that car
if your Dad knows the dealer name and sales date.
If he had the VIN or a bill of sale, they could find it
    for sure.
