The four hole one will make your intake still act as a dual plane. A single holed one will make it act as a single plane, sort of.

I used a 1" open spacer on that Edelbrock Performer 289 and and liked the improvement enough that I swapped that dual plane for a Torker289 single plane intake. Never looked back on that decision.

Get a four hole phenolic spacer to help isolate the carb from the manifold's heat. What is the rest of your engine's build ?

    That's it? :hmmm: :rofl2:

    Not too shabby.

    What cam specs?

I am by far no expert, but that engine setup seems like it would benefit from single plane mentality.

    the heads are restrictive.
    the carb is too big.
a 4 hole will help the too big carb to respond better at lower rpms.
be careful about hood clearance. ive never found enough room with a carb and a spacer for a decent size air cleaner.

When you say "stock 65 heads" have they had any work done to them ? I would still recommend a phenolic 4 hole spacer. Not a fan of double pumpers, but the 650 is on the borderline of being too big for a street motor.(302) As for hood clearance? there are many ways to fit an aircleaner under there (or hood scoop as I did)

I added a nitrous plate, and exceeded my real estate. So I went this route (still in the process of buying the rest).

Lost quite a bit of height from this...

It wouldn't all fit around the HEI distributor, either.

Nope, old brake lines bent to get out of my way while I cut out the shock towers.

But braided stainless washer tubes would be cool!
