Took my Stallion out for a run today with my oldest son. Gave him his first driving lesson in the high school parking lot. I learned to drive in a 71 Grabber. What did you guys and girls learn to drive in? Any other Mavericks out there?
Learned to drive in a 73 Gremlin X and various other cars my parents/family owned Learned to drive stick in a 1948 Plymouth club coupe...With a 3 on the tree.(My first car) Took road test in a 66 malibu SS with a 396 and a 4 speed. Just sold my 48 Plymouth abt 5 yrs ago...
The Grabber was a 3 speed with colum shifter. I still enjoy a 3 on the tree. I think it makes you a better driver learning on a manuel shift car.
Not counting the various farm trucks and such I grew up around - it was in Dad's daily driver. 1962 Chrysler Newport, factory 361 w/3 speed on the floor. Also bummed around in my friends 1961 Falcon - 170 w/3 speed on the column.
1971 Plymouth Satellite Station Wagon just like on the Brady Bunch only ours was blue. 318 automatic and easy to get a little side ways in the corners on a slick road just like my Comet
I learned to drive in my Dad's 65 Ford Falcon 4 door. I later wound up owning it after he bought a brand new 73 Pinto. That is why I searched for a 2 door 65 Falcon for my Cleveland project but wound up with my Maverick instead
68 Beetle! I was 8 and we lived on a long private drive. We had a box in the seat that I leaned on and as I shifted weight to work the clutch it would cause erratic throttle control. On one drive my older brother begged dad to make me stop so he could walk home. Was the first but not the last time I scared the hell out of him while driving.
A '57 Ford station wagon(my car, had it before a license), pop's 390 63½ Galaxie Fastback, plus honed my stick shift skills on the shop Econoline Van...
On a tractor...also was my first time having to shift gears... only a country boy can give u a answer like that
