My father paid $500.00 for it in 93 as my first car. I hated it. I wanted a Mach 1 mustang:coco: . Then read the original"Maverick Man" article in 93 SuperFord Mag and had a vision of things to come. It was my first car and it will be my last. Thanks Dad(y)

Edit: 200 ci, shifter on column, baby crap green. Plaid bench seats. It is far different than that now;)

I paid $600 for my 71 Mav from a preacher whose church I cleaned at the time. I think he wanted to make sure I would get to work!! He told me his dad had bought it new right before he passed and his mom kept it for years but never had a license.

That's been pretty close to 20 years ago. Woah...

so i was suppose to pay $350 for my comet. i eneded up giving the kid $40 and putting a starter in his isuzu rodeo. it came with a 200, bench seat, auto shifter on the colum, and 65 mustang hub caps. it's totaly different now.

My 77' Maverick I got for free. Well, almost free. I traded my 68' Mustang for it as an even trade. It was in very good shape at the time. The Stallion we paid $400 for and it was the closest thing to a parts car as you will ever see. Not anymore.:)

I payed $1675 for my 1971 Comet. I just bought it 2 weeks ago. Rebuilt 302-Original, Automatic Column shifter, completely rusted out hood(working on that,:90: , but should have one this weekend from lbr), not too much rust on rest of body. Really nice vinyl top, so so interior. It's my first car (which makes sense cuz im only 16), and i absolutely LOVE IT!!!!:bouncy: , Wouldnt want anything else.

    Thanks for listening!!hahaha

P.S.-I'm surprised its legal to give a 16 year old ownership of a V8!!!!!!

    '74 Grabber, hadn't ran or drove in over 10 years - $600
'73 4 door - free, drove it home
'76 2 door - not at liberty to say, but got a really good deal
'72 2 door (car in my avatar) - $100 with no engine, trans, hood or grille.

Currently working on getting a '71 4 door with nice interior for $150 and a '77 2 door with perfect interior for under $300.

My dad bought his '71 Comet GT in 1984 for $850. The car made it into Popular Hotrodding in 1998 and was sold in 2002 for $17,500, which was a $5,000 profit over what it cost to build it.

My first Maverick cost me $0.00! I made a deal with my neighbour to cut his grass if he gave me his 76 Maverick, which he no longer drove. The car lasted only 3 years and I ended up cutting the grass for close to 10 years, when he passed away.

My first was a '73 Comet GT..very nice car. I had a '77 Bobcat wagon(red, 4spd, mags, etc) that I saw on a lot for $1995..I offered $700 and they took it. A few months later I saw this Comet at another lot. They wanted $1695 for it. I ended up getting $500 cash, 4 nearly new tires and the Comet in trade for my Bobcat...what a deal that was! Owned it for 3 years until I was rearended and totaled...still my Fav car out of all the cars I have owned. My Current Grabber I bought at an auction for $400canadian(about $50us :D ). It was in very good shape, 47,000miles, 250cid, etc. That was in 1990
