Can someone please explain what a Cyclone Performance Package on a 72 Comet Gt consists of ? It was stated on the Marti Report that the car I just purchased has this option.
    Thanks in advance

I would call Kevin Marti, perhaps it is a misprint/mistake?... if not, I bet he could share more information as to what the "cyclone performance package" consisted of on your 72 Comet.

i called and spoke to a woman who said the information comes straight from Ford, but could not tell me what the option consisted of. She said to look online. The only thing i could fine was someone a few years back posted on this forum that a 72 montego had this option, but mentions nothing about a comet having it. It has the cyclone rear spoiler, i wonder if thet is what they meant ?

You guys have to remember though, there were 2 different Comets in 72. The compact based on the Mav and the last of the mid-size comet GT cyclone muscle cars.

:hmmm: From Wikipedia.. "Still using the same basic chassis, 1970 models would receive dramatic new styling, but the base model would now be the Montego. Comet was no longer the base level intermediate. The Cyclone name would continue to be used through the 1971 model year."

I don't know for sure about wikipedia, I still say and believe the report is erred. I for one would demand to speak with Kevin Marti directly and not a secretary or office worker. But thats just me.

I understand about the Montego thing, I've still seen plenty of people call them Comets. I'm just supposing a bit of a confusion on the car whether or not it is a Comet.

The Comet name was dropped in the Mercury intermediate line for 1970 when they were restyled(over in the Ford camp Fairlane held on for one more year & was gone in '71)... In '72 there was a total redesign of the Cyclone/Montego line & none of those remotely resembled Comets of past or then current production... Anyone calling the intermediates Comet after '69, doesn't know much about those vehicles...

If everyone knew as much about their cars as you claim to we wouldn't need forums like this would we?
