To all you folks that are hard core racers what possi is better of these two ,ive been asking around and getting mixed reviews ,seems to me its 6 of one ,half a dozen of the other .My detroit locker is still strong but i think its getting a little tied so befor the racing season starts in two weeks im going to put a new possi in mine and give Bev Grabbergirl719 my 31 spline detroit locker for her 9 inch. She has 100 less hp than me so it will last her a long ,long time. Some of my racing buddys say go Eaton cus it has a clutch pack possi set up and is easer to rebuild than a Detroit locker that has meshed gears for possi.I know that a full spool is the best for 1/4 mile racing but thats for next year as im still going to drive Blue Thunder on the street this year.

the truetrac doesn't have a clutch pack, the traclok has. the truetrac uses worm gears and is maintenance free. but both don't give you a 100% locker, so for racing i'd say detroit locker all the way

Agreed. A clutch pack for drag racing is abviously going to wear faster under the harder abuse. Id go with the locker...

Stay with the Detroit locker, anything with clutches is not going to last a season especially if you go to the wider tire. I am looking for detroit locker, a friend loaned me his with a set of 4.11s on it I really like it.

On my other Mav I had a Detroit e-z locker and it lasted really good, still working to this day and had several seasons of racing on it. It just goes inside an open housing third member pretty cheap at around $250.00 but I dont know if it would hold up to your HP I am looking at the new yukon grizzly detroit locker assemblies also considering one of the lockers that are nascar take offs on ebay. Going to see what I can find at the swap meet next week first

i would recomend the detroit locker. i just took mine out because im switching to a stick in the near future and they are not that much fun with a stick. ill sell it if interested pm me. when a detroit starts to wear out you can turn the internals around and the parts that engaged in reverse with little to no wear will now work in forward.
the true track does not hold up well under the shock loads of dragracing. trac locs do hold up well. you can even shim them extra tight. you can also rebuild the trac loc pretty easly.

For hardcore stuff a spool cant be beat. No clutches to wear out and pretty much bulletproof. And the best part is its cheap. I drive mine on the street too.

Hey Jimmy Look into the PowerTrax NoSlip Locker... I am pretty sure if it will hold up to the rigors of the Rock crawling community it will holdup to whatever you are going to throw at it.

I have the PowerTrax LockRight in my Maverick and it does one helluva job locking them up when going straight and since it is a ratcheting locker it still allows for street driving.

The "NoSlip" is the upgrade to what I have and if I am not mistaken is also what Frank has in his and it is supposed to be really quite. Mine clicks when you make low speed turns you can here it ratchet.

Anyway Thought it might be worth looking into. I know they told me that the locker unit it's self was so strong that I was highly advised not to run slicks on my stock 8 inch rear because they said if both sides grabbed the locker components would hold up and wrench my axles or bust somethng in the stock rear.

anyway take a look into them Powertrax NoSlip Locker

The Detroit may be worn, but if its still working there is nothing wrong. You can get the parts to rebuild the Detroit for a lot cheaper than a new one. P.S. the Detroit is the BEST.
