What should I ask for it?

Sometime in March, I will be ready to sell my 70 Maverick. It is the quintessential $1995 Maverick. Bare Bones! Bright Yellow- 72k miles all original except an AM radio was added and the front bench seat was replaced with one from a junk yard (different color) at sometime, I assume. One 93 year old past owner, rust spot behind the wheels with all the original scraps, scratches and dents! LOL. Cowl area solid. Was always garaged. Will need a clutch only because of a warped fly wheel otherwise working correctly.

Question is: What's it worth and what should I ask?

Pics would definitely help people decide what it is worth.

Like everyone has said, pictures would help a lot. Not knowing the car or ever seeing it up close it is hard to say. It will still come down to a matter of opinion of what someone things it is worth to them if they were buying it. Without seeing it, and from what you said it needs or the things wrong with it, my guess would be between $1000 and $2000.
I sold a bare bones stock 1970 Maverick with 46,000 original miles this past summer, All original, rust free, near mint interior, 170 six cylinder engine, auto trans with all of the parts to do a Grabber clone (rust free grabber hood, trunk lid with rear spoiler, sport mirrors, and grille) and could only get $4000 for it.
It will all come down to where the car is versus were the buyer is and the cost to transport it and how bad the buyer wants it. You might be able to get more for it or maybe not. I know I was some what disappointed with what I sold mine for. I basically broke even with the deal on mine when I sold it.
I wish you luck with your sale and hope you are able to get more. The economy seems to be turning around a little better now than it was this past summer when I sold mine, but the old car/collector car market is nothing like it was 5-6 years ago.

I agree Allen. like you said it all depends on where the car is located too. A car will bring a different price in Pa, Cal and Idaho. It would be easier to give him advice if we all knew where he lived. :hmmm:

I am in South Louisiana. The car is no where near the car you describe but I can't sell for even $2k. A loss is not in the books. If the value is that low for this car, I paid too much for it and (plain-0) bought the wrong car to fix and sell...

I'll throw some pics on here when I get some but I don't think the pics will change much of the outcome.

    Thanks

I'am assuming the car is a 170 ci Six Banger with a stick shift . Hows the gas tank ? Are there any leaks ?
Just curious. The gas tanks for a '70 are impossible to find and changing to another tank would be necessary .
    Lemmeno please.

Just changed the tank and brakes from Master Cyl to Brake Hoses ( from a 71 Mav) to the wheel Cyl's and brake shoes. All done with the recommendations of the fourm since the tank and the front brake hoses are not made.

Sounds like you've done a bit of work to this car. I'd be interested in bringing it back to a daily driver status like I'm
doing MY '70 here in Florida . Lemmeno when you have some pics. Thanks

Back to a driver is my intentions. I knew I wasn't going to keep it unless I couldn't get enough out of it then I would have spent more than the car is worth and just keep it as a driver and not to the point of a show car.

Here is a sneak 0120151706b.jpg 0120151707a.jpg peek. I will get more and closer up later.

Truly I have to say the car looks much better in pics than in person. In person, you will see the dings and dents and rust and what not but that is the original paint.
