My car's engine bay is so stock that it scares me and keeps me away from opening the hood.. lol of course it's got a yellow coil which is not the stock one and maybe a couple of few other details, but once I bought for my first Maverick (2 doors ,1975, 302, manual on steering column and bench seats) a nice looking, chromed K&N air filter with an also chromed "breather" I guess that is how you know those "mini-me" air filters that you put on the valve covers to replace the hose that formerly goes to the stock air filter... lol

Well the thing is I desperately want to replace the air filter on my 77 I6 250 with :( stock (land mower like) tiny little carburetor but I don't know which brand/model combination would fit in and what else do I need in order to connect all those weirdo hoses that go to the stock air filter, anyone who that has gone through same nightmare please post any part numbers, online links or any clues ? please ?

as close as the hood is to the carb you really cant fit anything aftermarket on as far as an air cleaner. the only reason i could get away with doing one on mine was because of the hole cut under the hood scoop.

ive got a few pis under the hood if you want to click on my album

Nice carb set what kind is it?

I am so lost man and I find it so hard to find things to do with the I-6 but to swap it for a V8 ... lol, but I guess I am not ready for the swap yet (if this ever happens) and rather sticking to the I-6 for a while and learn to tune it up little by little :yahoo:!
So what about your carb and air filter which combo do u have on that 6 ?

i have a holley 5200 2bbl with an adapter plate from summitracing.com, it was pretty much all bolt on except for the aircleaner. i just re cut the hole in the bottom of the original aircleaner to make it work since there isnt much aftermarket for that carb. the base of the carb had a football shape as opposed to the gound aircleaners your used to seeing. when i had the original carb i ran a tiny open aircleaner that sat up in the hood scoop and i could feel a little extra low end power but the 2bbl gave it alot more higher end power

Do you have part #'s ?

I would love to install one of those if you say they make a difference, as I said the car is stock besides the coil :hmmm:, but I would love to slightly improve the take off as I still have the feeling that the I6 doesn't have enough power to haul the weight of the car as I was used to the manual tranny 302 I had before and this one is automatic and on top of that well stock I6 lol...:rofl2:and if you remember also the car parts of your air filter/ intake please

Change your timing gears/chain to a pre-emission gear set and enjoy the extra power
