Mine is a 16 (I believe) and there is no room to bolt a toolbox to the front of it. You'll also have more room for playing with placement on an 18'.
Dave,I have a 16' and I would prefer a 18',if you need to drag home a parts truch or big sedan,or 20' lenths of roll cage tubing, that 2' would really make a difference,Jack
Mine is an 18'...I'll post a pic with my car on it. I have a toolbox and a winch and have plenty of room.
Mine is a 16 foot. This pics are from the 2006 trip to the Round-up. The trailer now has a tongue mounted box on it.
I brought mine home on a 16 and it has no extra room. I would go for the extra 2 feet for tools, parts etc. Never know what you might need it for. The extra 2 feet might be handy. Make sure your tow vehicle is heavy enough Dave. The MTO is getting really sticky with trailers.
Go with the 18' you will be much happier with it than the 16', mine is a dovetail with the back section angled down makes it easier to load cars, not such a steep climb. Tilt beds are very nice also.
Mine is a 19 i think.....If i had to do it again I would get the longer front frame so I could mount a tonge box......or a goose neck. Robert
mine is around 18' with a tool box on the front.... ill post a pic here in a sec. i haul mostly mavericks but from time to time i get a galaxie, truck or something big so i like having the extra room. better too much than not enough. here's the best pic i have of it empty..... and here's a pic with a '73 4dr on it.... still plenty of room ....
I have a 16 with a dovetail, but we built them with a long tongue. Pulls great but my next one will be at least 18. I was looking at a tilt type trailer with a fixed section in front. It was 18 on the tilt plus 4 fixed.
