I was looking for some seat covers for the bucket seats that I just got, and I noticed a few covers that had the saddle blanket design on them. That got me wondering why people like them. I'm just at a loss. Is it the comfort? Do some just like that look? Is it a vintage thing? I was just kinda wondering, no offense intended if you like them.

I think it's because the are about the only ones that last longer than a month. Any other style I used came apart in short order.

The mexican/saddle blanket look is a rat rod/40s' jitney theme kind of thing...

Mexican blankets are cheaper than seat covers.

Got to be a nostalgia thing, I think they're hideous in most applications. They look appropriate in a vehicle that's the right age and condition, but like so many other automotive fads it's tainted by people who don't "get it" and will put them on anything.

Back in the 50's, when you had worn upholstery and couln't afford to have it redone, you would throw a blanked over the seat. They were called Indian blankets, and added some color to the interior.

Why do people like sushi, or tofu? Or Mavericks for that matter...? There's no accounting for taste...maybe it's something that jogs a memory from a time long since past...who knows...but they do. I'm all for personal preferences myself, and even though I don't necessarily like a particular style or trend...I still respect and appreciate the work and effort that goes into it ...;)
