Since finding new employment (more $$), I'll be in KC for three weeks of training. I'm also gonna be storing the Mav for winter early so I can get some work done on it before it gets too freaking cold in the garage. If all goes well , I'm looking at a new exhaust, big to small bumper, leaf springs and front suspension bushings/parts.
winter....isn't that the week between christmas and new year. sometimes it seems i sleep right throught it.j/k
come take a trip up to DE around feb., it'll give you a whole new out look on life... any of you AZ guys have a room for rent between Nov-Apr?
Winter Aahh ... winter ... The three months out of the year when you don't sweat full-time in Florida. For the first time since April, I actually turned the air off for a couple on minutes in my daily ride. Bring it on ... I did grow up in Chicago, so those of you shovelling snow have my sympathy. The downside to winter here ... the population in my area DOUBLES with all of the snowbirds that migrate down here to escape the cold. Driving takes on a whole new aspect as the average age rises from 40 to 70. The people driving slow, sight-seeing, in the passing lane with an out-of-state plate on the car are a true test of patience. I usually fail ... :16suspect
Earl, Any "Certified Old Fart" that drives a Mav as hot looking as yours is A-OK in my book. It is the low-mileage original owner mid-80s luxury cars (piloted by the original owner sitting on a phone book) that I spend way too much effort avoiding here. As a side note ... my grandfather had a 350 Nova that he loved, and drove hard into his 80s. In the mid-1950s, he had a hot-rodded 40 Ford. He outran the Illinois State Police across the Wisconsin State Line. They decided to wait 8 hours for him to come back home. They got him ... I am very happy that he is who I take after the most in my family. Another very cool old car guy ... a local 1/8th mile bracket racer who drove a 7 second V8 Vega until he was 80. He is in his mid-90s now, works in his son's auto body shop everyday, and looks like he is perhaps 70 years old. Amazing guy!
Capt'nComet; Thanks for the compliment. Some of us older folks really are into cars in a big way. Around here, most of the car show crowd is 40 and over. I guess we have been at it longer, have more time and disposable income to put toward our hobby. BTW, my son goes to school in Orlando, not too far from you. Later,
