Wont start.

    Hey, well i was trying to post this else but it would let me.well i have a 1973 Maverick, and it takes about 3 turns of the key to start it, is that normal, i was thinking maybe the gass isnt getting to the engine, cause it doesnt smell like im flooding it, cause i push on the gas 1 time before i start it up.

    Try this... pump it 2 times and hold it half way in while cranking.

    I would say that's pretty normal, especially on a cold start...

    If your used to fuel injection cars, this aint them. Definitely takes these cars a little more to get them running.

    sounds normal to me i have to pump mine a little bit too.:)

    *lol* Probably should have. On colder mornings (who'd have thought summer in Cali would have those?) she doesn't always start up quick like, so I've gotta hold down the gas pedal just a bit beforehand. Maybe I should print that sticker out and paste her to the dashboard of mine. :cool:

    This is proof that starting a carb car is becoming lost with age. If started daily a pump or 2 should get her going. If infrequent running is your cars life, then you just may have to pump the hell out of it.

    I know i need a new carb kit, so will i need to get a Tune up or is this just normal for a old car?
