ok went out to the garage to start removing the parts that are destroyed after my motor mount broke and pretty much everything thing water pump forward is gone. and decided to make sure the pressure plate and clutch i got almost a month ago and just never got around to test fitting it. and it doesn't match the bolt pattern is about half a inch too short all the way around. now before buying it i did all the research and the bellhousing is from a 69-72 351 ( which will fit my 302) with a 164 tooth flywheel from a 65-66 mustang. and the flywheel from the research of the stamped number says it takes a 10" , 10 1/2 " clutch and got a mcloed 75113 clutch and pressure plate kit which is a 10" and from summit said it would fit but its too small what do i do?? its an old flywheel and i haven't tried to get it refinished. and looking at it more i see that the ring gear does have half the teeth on the starter side rounded. should i just get a new flywheel and not worry about it ? could anyone give me a hint to what flywheel i need to match the bolt pattern thanks

So you need a 164 tooth flywheel that takes a 10" clutch?

i guess i mean the id stamped number on the flywheel says it takes a 10 or 10 1/2 clutch and i have a 10in but its way to small and summit says it will fit

Sounds like you have the wrong pressure plate if the holes won't line up.....clutch might work if you get the proper pressure plate.

    i figured

i have an 11" clutch and pressure plate that came with the flywheel and bellhousing when i got it ( its a diaphragm and so is the one i have thats a 10" ) but the 11" is to big. thats why im starting to think it would be easier to just get a new flywheel and then return the pressure plate and clutch and get a proper one but then idk what one to get

????????? can anyone help me out there????????? im getting really discouraged with this car right now its the only car i have having to borrow a car right now trying to get all the parts together to fix all the damaged parts and trying to get the swap done so i have a proper transmission for once and dont have to worry about it anymore

also trying to make sure i can use this bellhousing the id number says it came from a 69-71 351 ( 71 351 boss ) and saw one forum that said it will not work on 302s???? and im guessing i need to return the clutch kit and get a new clutch kit along with flywheel ??? but even then i cant find on centerforces or mcloed or even ram clutches website what fits what????

My 71 Comet GT had a 164 tooth flywheel with a 10" clutch. I just dug it out of the rafters to verify. It has the following part# cast into it. C5AE-6380-E. I really haven't decided if I am going to use this flywheel or not. I guess I could be persuaded.

Well, I bought two Centerforce diaphragm clutch kits. One for my Sprint which has a 157 tooth flywheel and one for my Comet which has the 164 tooth. Both bolted on with no problems. Same clutch kit for both.
