My 302 that i pulled from a van bout 6 months ago is now a monster. I made a test stand, and then yesterday I started it up. according to dyno 2000 it should make about 350 hp right now, thats with the open headers. yes open headers, it has such an incredible, powerfull, loud sound! it is great. ive ported my heads, got a bigger than stock camshaft(PAW), flat top pistons, and ive decked my block .010. then i also got a alluminum intake off of a 83 mustang, and put a holley carb on it that i got free for painting a friends car. then after that i put on a velocity stack/air cleaner combo on there. WOW i just about crapped my pants it was so exciting. im almost ready to put this beast in my car, except that i have better ported heads, with big valves(1.96in/1.60ex) to put on. then i plan for roller rockers, and a crower solid pro street cam, and mayby a better intake. this sucker is going to beat all those damn tubo talons in town! I cant wait. thanks for listening, i was so excited i had to tell someone.

I know the feeling man. Got my 302 in my car last november. Felt great to hear it for the first time with the open headers. Still you gotta respect those turbo whatevers. some can be quick. Be careful and not dumb too.

****UPDATE**** i got my new mounts and today i pulled out my I6. it sucked. but now i can get my v8 started going in there. i dont know if this will be hard or not. i think my headers are going to be a sob to get in. at least they sound good.

What headers are you gonna be using? hooker 6901's drop right in incredibly easily.

ive got summit brand headers and im starting to think they suck. ive got a junk 289 block sitting in my car and theres like no way to get the driver side header on! its extremly frustrating. how much are those hooker 6901's? i might sell mine to a friend with a truck. if i do that i will need to find headers that fit. hang on i got a summit catalog in front of me the 6901's dont even say maverick or the later comet. they are only $150, not bad. but scott how did you know they would fit? i need a few tips.

Nick; I have the FlowTech headers, the ones Summitt sells. I had to lift the drivers side of the engine about 4" to get them to slide in. After that, they were really easy to install.

I installed Hookers on my 302. Easy install, but with power steering you gotta have the drop off bracket.
