First let me say, I have used the search function and have been successful finding old threads discussing this but my question is a bit different. My 72 Mav has the shock towers completely removed so I have some good room. I have blown 408w going in and am at the point of picking some headers out. I don't really have the budget for a custom set of headers, and I don't like the Crites 1-3/4 long tubes for two reasons. 1. the hard bend they make right off the head ( I'm sure all the guys with shock towers love that though lol) and I don't want a full length header because of the ground clearance issues.

I was really leaning toward these mid length headers from Dougs...

Any body here run these? I found a few people saying they were going to try and run them but never came back and updated the thread.
Anybody have any thoughts on if these would work well for me? I'm thinking they definitely would work just would like hear from anybody that has used them.

    Thanks guys!

They don't fit column shifters... got half way through the install and I found out the hard way. Nice quality

Thank you for your reply! That wouldn't be an issue for me seeing how I have a cable floor shifter. I'm concerned about the steering shaft hitting now.

What heads will you be using? I have 6231HKR Hooker Super Comps 2" primarys for a Fox body on mine. No shock towers, M2 Rack, HighPorts.

Thanks for your reply!.... Well I haven't bought any just yet. I was hoping to get a good feel for what could work. I'd love to see some pics of how your headers fit. Any way you could send some pics? I can give you my cell number if that makes it easier.

Don't buy world products windsor Jr heads. It makes the header deal even more complex.

Motor is already complete. I have canfield 208cc with raised exhaust ports. I shouldn't have a problem as I have the shock towers removed. Thanks!

If you don't mind me asking what's the part number on those Dougs headers?

Those headers are barely decent for an N/A motor and way too small for a 400+ CID blown motor. And tri-y's are the completely wrong way to go there too. The Hooker Super Comp's Rick mentioned above are much more appropriate for what your doing here.

    How much boost?

Oh really? I thought since they were 1-3/4 primaries it would support 700-800hp.

    Low boost. 10lbs -14lbs

And what is Tri-Y? They look like a great designed header to me.

Tri-Y merges the 4 ports into 2 separate pipes and then merges those into a single pipe, thus 3 Y's.

Thanks for the explanation Jason. It doesn't appear that the Dougs are quite like the ones you pictured. Plus the Dougs have 1-3/4 primaries and expand out to 2- 1/8 then go into a 3in Collector. Let me say agian, I MUST have a mid length header. I need the ground clearance. I appreciate everyone's input! Keep em coming!
