Installing a dual exhaust system

I've been considering installing a dual exhaust system on my Comet since it has a serious exhaust leak and time for a small project.Will I have to cut the inner fenders so the heads/manifolds will have clearance ? and how would I go about getting over the rear axle ? Should I just go and have a custom made set?
