I recently got a hankerin for an old car. I had been driving import
cars, six of them and a volvo too. One was a new 96 honda civic, after
a small fender bender, less than 4mph. I was told it was going to cost
$3500 to fix the great new tinny honda. I fixed it and sold it. But since
i have had 5 jap cars in a row, i was kinda tired of them. I remember
when i drove a maverick in HS. I got the car for free and barely
maintained it and it lasted and was so simple to operate and repair.
So i responded to an add about a comet that needed work. Barely any rust
but it needed some work. It was only $350 incredible. So im the happy owner
of a 4 door comet. I put in dual tip sparkplugs, kn oil filter, kn airfilter
new tires and all the fluids changed. QUESTIONS+++What problems should i
look for in these cars 74 merc comet. How can i get the brakes to work
better withless effort. What kind of gas milage should i expect, it
seems that im getting 15-20, what with california gas costing $1.70
a gallon. Any input would be appreciated.
