I put Manual disc's from a 74 2dr Maverick on my 72 and instead of changeing all of the break lines, master cylinder, and metering block, I used the stock ones and it works great. The hoses have the same fitting that go to the hard lines. The difference in the disc break set up's is in the Calipers, the ones for the 74 manual are different than the 75-77's. This is the cause for the different proportioning valve(instead of a metering block) and larger front break reservior on the master cylinder. The 74 manual disc cars have the same master cylinder as the 70-74 drum cars.
: I got my parts from a '74 4-door Maverick with manual Disc brakes...The prop valve is EXACTLY the same (basically a junction block) but the bolts were vertical instead of horrizontal on my '73...I also have a '75 power-disc brake prop.-valve to compare them to...It may have something to do with whether it was an "early" '74 or a "late" '74...I know that power brakes are much more "touchy" so you must have the proper prop.-valve...Personally, I wouldn't mess with it (too much hassle); if you experience a problem with rear wheel lock-up, install a good aftermarket ADJUSTABLE proportioning valve...

: : ...It is different from the drum setup due to the obvious differences in braking force generated by the discs. They are not interchangable for safety reasons - the drum proportioning valve would bias too much force to the rear & cause rear wheel lockup:-)
