Carter was one of THE carburetors to have on your muscle car, they were often factory equipment on them. Holley was an "upstart" (in the late 50's/early 60's) company that produced some excellent racing carbs. If you want great drivability (set it, and forget it) then the Carter(now owned by FederalMogul Corp) is the way to go. As mentioned, the Edelbrock Performer is nearly identical to the Carter.
I'm running their 625 cfm model on my 'Hot Rod' and just love it!

: Ive never even heard of Carter...where can i find out about it?
