The new cars of today do not put out the amount of horsepower as the cars from 1962-1971. The cars of yesteryear were conservatively rated as far as power output. The only cars today that put out that kind of power are world-class cars like ZR-1 Corvettes, Ferarris, Lamborghinis, etc...
: I realize that in 1972 the automakers changed the way they rate horsepower.(ie '69 stang 302 rated at 210 at the flywheel, '73 Mav or stang rated at 140 at the rear wheels) My question is this, how do they rate it now? It just seems to me that todays car are putting out more HP at the rear that some older cars had at the flywheel. Or am I just over thinking the subject?
