: : i have a cracked right exhaust manifold and so i figured i might go ahead and add some more power...i'm looking to go for dual exhaust, perhaps headers...

: : the main question is what is the ballpark figure on something like this...what header/muffler brands should i look for (high-end, low-end)...and how much of a performance increase will it get me...

: : i have a 73 w/ a 302...A/C..and it's a column shift in case the linkage will cause any problems with header space...don't really want to change to floor if i don't have to...would prefer not to cut into my car...thanks...

: :headers cost $85-$400 depending on brand, Flowmaster mufflers good at desent price. 2 1/4" pipe best size. The column shifter & p/s (if you have it), will be big problem. There is some "shortie headers" for mustangs that will work. Or find the old 289hipo manifolds, they will work, but probably cost about $250+. Some of the 351w manifolds are sleepers to, check them out. Cast iron is also quieter and easier to put on. Shortie headers are not a low-end torque type header, just made for crowded eng. compartments. Longer pri tube headers work great for street/racing situations. As does the cast iron manifolds. Pure racing: go to manual steering, brakes & loose the a/c, then it wouldn't matter. You just need to figure out how you want to go.

Will a set of "factory" 86 5.0 mustang headers/exhaust manifolds fit in a maverick with a 302?
