your right it is better to get the shoulded bolt kit. I put 351 heads on my 302 with the bolt kit and it worked great. I think the kit is pretty cheap too.
: dunno what the real difference is, but I was told the 302 didn't have quite as much to work with around the cylinder walls, if you drill it for 1/2 inch headbolts, you tend to run into trouble...
